It’s with great pride that John Fisher took delivery of IDMC Gospel Soul Choirs’ latest release Hideaway Live!  The new album is a combination of recordings from the choirs’ previous performances at the Hideaway in August and December 2017 and had its official release in February 2018 in prestigious launch ceremony held at the Jamaican High Commission in London’s South Kensington.  Knowing that the Hideaway held superior recording and production facilities, John felt inspired to create a recording project from the two performances.

Destination Southport! A bitterly cold November weekend saw a six piece unit from IDMC heading to the northwesterly shores of England to engage in their third year of 3Generate, the Methodist Church’s annual nationwide assembly of over 1000 children and youth ranging from ages 8 to 23 with the theme for this year being #wonderfully prophetic A Friday evening departure from north London was at approximately 5pm, taking John and the team around 4 hours to drive to the chillier climes of Southport

Saturday 12th August 2017, saw IDMC take the stage of the award winning Hideaway Jazz Club in south London. From prior knowledge Bazil Meade and the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC), are the only other gospel act to have had performed there three years prior, therefore to John, it was important that the lead up, communication and preparation was right for this gig. This proved to be so, with support given to IDMC from agent Graeme Mall, assistance from the venue, increased production

Three o’clock saw the arrival of IDMC at the amazing City Gates Church in Ilford. The gig which saw a selection of the choir, specifically sopranos Maulin, Shirley, and Genevieve, altos Wendy, Fabien, and Elaine and tenors Courtney and Alex join John Fisher to be a part of a top gospel music industry awards evening. As the largest group performing, IDMC had the stage fully setup for their show, and sound checks went well. The evening was a great celebration of the UK Gospel

Friday John and a selection of IDMC left the UK on voyage to Tromsø Norway to join their great friends, Jardar Johansen of Gospel Company (Gospel Compagniet for those of you fluent in Norwegian :-)) and two other choirs for the first ever Arctic Gospel Festival! After an extremely early flight on Friday morning John and the choir, had the chance to rest and re-cooperate, and upon arrival in Norway were greeted by their hosts with big hugs and new introductions meeting the

After a two hour evening flight, fifteen piece IDMC Gospel choir landed at Marco Polo airport in Venice. Assuming to be picked up by a couple of representatives from New Generation gospel choir…however this was not the case! Once assembled and ready to depart choirmaster John heralded, “ You ready gang, here we go!” the choir were not ready for what was around the corner. To their amazement, in waiting were thirty members of New Generation gospel choir with welcome banners singing and

This four-day excursion began with John and MD and second son Dayna traveling to Munich. Met by our German cousin and John’s namesake Svenja Fischer, the beautiful day was spent in town, where a great meal was enjoyed, and talks about the weekends program (which was looking great) took place. Day 2 saw the crazy gang (yes IDMC lol) join John and Dayna in Munich to get the party started! Upon arrival there was a lovely fellowship meal together with the members of Gospel
