Hideaway Live – New Album!
It’s with great pride that John Fisher took delivery of IDMC Gospel Soul Choirs’ latest release Hideaway Live!
The new album is a combination of recordings from the choirs’ previous performances at the Hideaway in August and December 2017 and had its official release in February 2018 in prestigious launch ceremony held at the Jamaican High Commission in London’s South Kensington.
Knowing that the Hideaway held superior recording and production facilities, John felt inspired to create a recording project from the two performances.
The tracks on the album handpicked by John, reflect the history of the choirs’ twenty-four years in the industry and contribution to the UK gospel scene.
In addition to IDMC classics such as “Only You”, “More Than Conquerors” and “Soul Food” there is a sprinkling of definitive gospel covers such as Aretha Franklin’s “How I Got Over”, Hezekiah Walker’s “Power Belongs to God” and the Kitty Wells classic “God Put a Rainbow in the Cloud”.
The album also contains new material penned by John himself, such as “Beauty in Me”, and “Let There Be Love”, suffice to say that this album has more variety than a KFC bucket!
Upon listening to the album, the impression that you are left with is one of a vibe that exudes a cross between soul and funk, which somehow merges into traditional gospel music, creating a diverse fusion of various musical genres, resulting in the listener having had their taste buds well and truly tickled!
This project is IDMC’s ninth album release and it truly captures the energy and dynamism of IDMC live in concert.
