| Some of Our History & Highlights |
IDMC (Individuals Dedicated to the Ministry of Christ) was conceived in August 1993 by its founder and director John Fisher. The choir was known then as The New Testament Church Of God Inter District Mass Choir, what a mouth full, so we shortened it to Inter District Mass Choir. The vision was to bring together various churches from the New Testament churches (NTCG) to start recording songs written by their own people, also to be a part of the continual growth of the British gospel industry here in theUK. IDMC was launched in February 1994 with the recording of their first album called "Prove Me". The choir's music was soon to be heard on local and national radio stations such as Choice FM, Premier radio, BBC radio (London Leicester, Derby and Nottingham) to name a few. The membership changed from a 70 strong choir to a core of 30 members. Due to the change in membership and the intake of members from other church organizations such as Seventh Day Adventist, Church Of God Of Prophecy and Ruach Ministries, the group's name changed to the Inter Denominational Music Choral. In June 1997, IDMC followed their first recording with a 3 track single call"Only You" produced by RnB producer Trea. The single won critical acclaim from both the gospel and secular industry for its innovation in the contemporary gospel choir sound.
Since 2004, IDMC has gone from strength to strength, having twice been guests at The Royal Albert Hall to sing at the 'Peace One Day' 2007 Concert and for American singer Jason Mraz, during his 2008 European Tour. They were honoured to sing at the memorial service of 'Body Shop' founder Anita Roddick, and were the guest choir, with Heather Small, when London won the 2012 Olympic Bid!! Spice Girl 'Geri' Halliwell invited them to sing for the christening of her daughter 'Bluebell', which was special, as was the invitation to sing at British singer Jamelia's graceful wedding, which took place in Summer 2008! Other highlights include singing at the wedding of John Thierry, being on the Michael Jackson 'Thriller Live' tour, singing at The British Library 'Sacred Festival', working extensively with our chosen charities such as the Ark, whose gala dinner at The Old Naval College, Greenwich raised £25 million, in one night for charity!!, Burrswood Hospital Appeal in the presence of HRH Princess Alexandra, Honeypot, Black Mental Health UK, Christians Against Poverty, Helen Bamber Foundation, and working extensively with schools in various boroughs teaching vocal workshops. They are a group of young people with a strong contagious urban contemporary gospel sound. IDMC are ready to share the good news of salvation given to us by Jesus Christ. The group has a lot of energy and a strong message of love, hope, joy and peace for everyone. Using a cocktail of slamming beats, infectious grooves, mellow ballads, through to today's praise and worship and traditional gospel styles, IDMC has something for everyone and for all situations! |
